We Must Receive The Gift Those who give themselves to sin will die both physically and eternally, whereas Christians are assured of eternal life. Wages implies that the punishment for sin is what one has earned and what one deserves. If we accept the fact that Jesus gave his life to pay the penalty for our sin, then turn from that sin and surrender to his leadership, we will receive God’s gift of forgiveness and eternal life—the opportunity to know him now (Jn 17:3) and to be with him forever.
