Returning to the Feet of Jesus Luke 10:38-42 1. The Priority of Presence Over Performance Mary chose to sit at the feet of Jesus, listening to His words, while Martha was busy with serving. Martha, in her distractions, missed the opportunity for intimate fellowship with Jesus, while Mary seized the moment to connect with Him on a deeper level. Like Mary, we must prioritize being in the presence of Jesus over the performance of religious duties. It is in the stillness of His presence that we find nourishment for our souls and direction for our lives. 2. The Power of Listening Mary's posture of listening at Jesus' feet symbolizes humility and receptivity to His teachings. Scripture emphasizes the importance of listening to God's voice: "He who has ears, let him hear" (Matthew 11:15). When we come back to sit at the feet of Jesus, we open our hearts to receive His word, allowing it to transform and renew us from within. 3. The Practice of Prioritization Jesus commended Mary for choosing the "better portion," implying that there are competing priorities in life (Luke 10:42). In our busy and distracted world, we are often pulled in many directions, but like Mary, we must choose to prioritize spending time with Jesus above all else. By intentionally setting aside time to sit at His feet daily, we align our priorities with His kingdom agenda and experience the abundant life He promises. We MUST prioritize the presence of Jesus in our lives over the busyness of our daily tasks. Let us cultivate a posture of listening and receiving His word, allowing it to guide and transform us. And we MUST practice the discipline of prioritization, choosing to sit at the feet of Jesus each day, for it is in His presence that we find true peace, joy, and fulfillment. What are our transformational moments? 1. Where are your Priorities? 2. Are we living with the attitude of Mary or Martha? We have to find a balance, not a default. 4. Are you ready to sit back at the feet of Jesus?
