When God Fights For Us!

 • Series: Exodus

God provides a miraculous rescue through the Red Sea. Exodus 14:13-14  When God Fights For Us! Exodus 14:15-16  1. Faith Is Required Three directives to meet this emergency:  “Do not be afraid”  “Stand firm” and see the salvation, i.e., the “deliverance of the LORD” for “the LORD will fight for you”  “Be still,” i.e., stop all action and become inactive, for I, the Lord, will act by myself on your behalf God will take you only to the levels your faith will carry you. Exodus 14:21-22  2. God Does More Than We Anticipate Even the width of this separation of the waters must have been somewhere around one-half mile wide to allow two million people to pass over in one night before the wind died down during the “last watch”, i.e., approximately between 2:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M. (sunrise). No, the event, while incorporating the natural elements of the wind, has the element of the exceptional (cf. Deut 4:32, 34) accompanying it, as did the previous plagues. Thus, it strongly suggests the presence of God in the event. When you have the faith to trust him, he will blow your mind at what he will do in your life. Exodus 14:23-28  3. God Takes Care Of Who Comes Against Us The Pharaoh lost all the men and chariots he had committed to that engagement. The text never says that Pharaoh himself died here, even though Psalm 136:15 records that God “swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea.” You will encounter people who come against you, and you may want revenge, but God is always fighting for you. You may never see God smite your enemies like Moses did, but this shows you their day of smite is coming. Exodus 14:30-31  4. Our Faith Is Strengthened  Above all, Israel saw with what tremendous power the Lord had delivered them, and they feared Him, believed Him, and trusted His servant Moses. The fear of the Lord (v.31) was the signal of a responsive attitude of submission and love equivalent to putting one’s whole trust in him. God will blow your mind if you have the faith to let him do it. What are our transformational moments? What sea are you standing in front of today? Do you have the faith to raise your arms?
