Lessons of the Lost Sheep Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him. And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.” Luke 15:1-2 1. Jesus is in Love with You Now So he told them this parable: “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? Luke 15:3-4 He is not in love with a future version of you. God will come after you until he finds you. There is nothing that you could ever do to make God stop loving you! 2. Jesus Wants to Carry You Home And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ Luke 15:5-6 We all need a family, we all crave relationships. You need a church home just as much as you need your physical home. 3. There is a Party in Heaven for You Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:7 The party is when we repent or turn to God. We stop trying to do things our way but do things his way. God is ready for you to come home, and he is waiting with open arms. What does this mean for us? Are you a lost sheep? Do you need God to come after you? Are you ready to come home today? _________________________________ Join our churchwide devotion for April.
