Who is God to us?
• Series: 2022 Sermon Archive
Who is God to us? Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name." Matthew 6:9 1. Love Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. John 4:7-8 Agape: God's love for us is unconditional. 2. Holy “There is none holy like the Lord: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God." 1 Samuel 2:2 God is holy and he is just. 3. Good Shepherd The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1 God leaves us not needing anything, but we have to control our wants. 4. Healer the Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous. Psalm 146:8 Our God is in the miracle working business. 5. Provider He raises up the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from the ash heap to make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honor. For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, and on them he has set the world. 1 Samuel 2:8 God gives us all that we need. 6. Victory But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57 Even in our darkest day, we serve the one who has already won! 7. Peace He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:2-4 God will bring peace and restoration in your life, even when you are not ready for it! What does this mean for us? Do you need to lay down your motives this morning? Let's take a moment and ponder who God is to us. Let's praise God for who he is this morning. _________________________________ Join our churchwide devotion for May.
