Ask God to Forgive
• Series: 2022 Sermon Archive
Ask God to Forgive and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Matthew 6:12 1 - Know and Unknown Sin If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 Did you know that you can sin even without knowing it? The good news is God is faithful to forgive us, we just have to come to him with a repentant heart. 2 - Repeated Sin What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Romans 6:1-2 Sometimes we develop an attitude that God will forgive us no matter what. The grace that we take advantage of was not free, it cost Jesus something, we need to value that. 3 - Complacency then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery Deuteronomy 8:14 God has been so good to us, but we take that for granted. 4 - Lack of Love Towards Others If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 1 Corinthians 13:1 We are very selfish. It is a sin for us to be hateful to others. 5 - Unforgiveness of Others See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; Hebrews 12:15 Bitterness turns our hearts away from what God would have for us. Bitterness will drive out all of the love in our hearts. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, Matthew 6:14 6 - Past Sin Resurfacing Like a dog that returns to his vomit is a fool who repeats his folly. Proverbs 26:11 When you know better do better. What does this mean for us? Do you need to turn to God? Do you need to forgive others? Do you need forgiveness from God? _________________________________ Have you made a commitment to follow Jesus? Decision Form June Bible Reading
